I just spoke to someone on the phone about the franchise process, and we were talking about how all of the pieces fit together. I said that doing a franchise investigation is very similar to buying a house. You have to think about how all of the pieces fit together.
- Put in a foundation = talk to the franchise development professional
- Look at nuts and bolts = franchise disclosure document (FDD)
- Everything above ground = the validation process (“fun part”)
Moral of the story: You really can’t get to validation until you lay a solid foundation and research all of the nuts and bolts.
